Bates Method for fixing eyes?

Hi I’m in grade 10 and have kinda bad vision. I heard bout this bates method for bringing your eye backup to 20/20. I need to know if it works and all the eye exercises for it. I am near sighted (or whichever one means you can see good close up). Could you make me like a program for eye exercises? maybe some videos too. It would be greatly appreciated. How long would it take me to see 15/20?
Do I buy a DVD?
How?

Any answers you have will get you ten points!
thanks for reading :) Brett, look up bates method in google videos

Thats silly, You might need glasses mate, I had perfect 20/20 vision last year, but now i’m in glasses, you’re better off getting your eyes checked by an Optometrist

A doc charges around 1Lac for colorblindness treatment via acupressure, Bates method, massage. Should I go on?

There is an institute for perfect eye sight where a doctor claims to cure genetic colorblindness by changing the perception of seeing colors as per what he says. He follows acupressure, eye massage, eye exercises via Dr. W.H. Bates method and some food supplements which will be ordered from outside and charged extra.

Considering doctors have denied of any possible treatment available for genetic disorders, please suggest what should I do?

There is no scientific evidence that this works. The other doctors have told you so. This person wants to charge you a lot of money for something there is no evidence works. Obviously there is a lot of doubt as to whether this person is just out to take your money. Ask what guarantees you have that teh treatment will work - ask to speak to people for whom it has been successful Ask if you can have your money back if it doesnt’ work and get all this in writing. If the answers are no then you should draw conclusions as to whether this person can be trusted. You should not risk more money than you can affford on this type of thing. When something cannot be cured there are always people willing to make money out of others desperation for a cure.

Has the Bates method given you long-term success?

For someone around a -1

The Master Bates method has done wonders for me, I must say…

Has anyone ever tried the Bates method?

I am quite intrigued with the idea but have never met anyone who tried it. I bought the book a few years ago but never got round to studying it but now I have found it I intend to give it a go. I really be interested in hearing feedback from anyone who’d tried it.

Thanks in advance

well reading this book decades go led to saving my son 16 years in glasses.

The school said he had poor vision and I took him to an eye doctor who said he had 20-200 vision and told me he needed glasses and it can never be reversed.

Around that time I found the book and found it fascinating. I was getting pressure form the school and tried to find a doctor trained or familiar with the vision therapy in the book. I called up tpo 150 miles a way. I talked to the university in my city’s college of opthalmology etc. and finally found someone who said that method was not taught but there was a doctor trained in vision therapy and gave me his name.

I drove my 12 year old 45 mile round trip for 20 weeks paying out of pocket to this doctor was used vision therapy and eye exercises and games that he assigned to my son to do each week a different one. Meanwhile the school was telling my son "your mom doesn’t mean to be mean to you but you have got to get her to get your glasses." this made me mad.

At the end of the 20 weeks the doctor write the school telling them he had had vision therapy and his vision was now 20-40 in one eye and 20-60 in the other and he did not need glasses. I felt so good when they got the letter and stopped undermining me in my son’s eyes and putting him on the spot.

At the same time we did the doctor’s assignments, I also had my son read the eyechart in the book as directed and do the other exercises. The book has a fascinating section in its use in the new york schools.

I do believe that glasses make the vision progressively worst. Unfortunately, I was led to believe that the Bates’ method works best if one is age 12 and under and not as well for adults. The same with the vision therapy I was told by the eye doctor.

But George Malkus who wrote the book hallelujah diet, when I heard him speak about 18 months ago told how he had gotten stronger and stronger glasses over the decades and that as he began to eat first a 100% raw vegan diet (to cure his colon cancer which he did), and then to an 85% raw vegan diet that his glasses gradually got better and better and he had to get weaker and weaker glasses. He said his vision in his mid 79s had returned to 20-20 (so much for it can never be reversed) and he had just passed the eye test without glasses. He was practically dancing on stage he had so much pep like a child would due to his excellent diet. His site is hacres.com read some of the many many testimonies of healing and also what foods are considered to be raw.

I recommend doing what Dr Christopher and Dr Richard Schultz his student did to fix all kinds of eye problems form diabetic neuropathy, cataracts, glaucoma and even several people blind for decades or life and one baby with no optic nerve.
some of Christopher’s testimonials are at the links (herballegacy)

Take the eye wash formula as directed here

http://www.herballegacy.com/Eye_Ailments.html

if you want to make it the directions are here

http://www.herballegacy.com/Herbal_Eyebright.html

Be sure if making it buy your bulk herbs organic or wildcrafted not conventional herbs

make into a tincture following the directions here (be sure to label it and put an expiration date 5 years from the day you strain it. use 80 proof vodka not 100 proof. You do not need the rue and mullein as they only recently added that

how to make a tincture

here is how to use it

http://curezone.com/schulze/handbook/eyebright.asp

you can also buy it at herbdoc.com

If you want to send an email address to knowledge seeker on curezone, I can send you the chapter on eye diseases in Dr Schulze save your life manual.

But he said in addition to using in the eye as directed several times a day (do not worry I tried it several times it only stings for a minute or two. He said if you wake up one day with eyes stuck together that is the gunk being pushed out of the eye and just take a warm wet washcloth and wipe eye. this was published in a health newsletter and got more mail than anything published thousands wrote into say they had been cured of every eye diseases and problem

With it take 60 drops internally 7 times a day, drink 3 cups of raw carrot juice, take brain herbs lik organic rosemary and organic ginkgo tinctures (60 drops 3-5 times a day) and get on a slant board for 15-20 minutes once a day. Of course both doctors recommended with all their patients eating either the mucusless diet (see herballegacy for more on this) or a vegan, high raw or all raw depending on how bad you are diet (vegan) but could try it without the diet and see what happens.

I would do the bates exercise, all the recommendations (eye wash, slant board, etc) and make dietary changes stopping or drastically cutting animal products and using plant substitutes and increase my juicing, green smoothies/juices and raw foods

Where can I study the bates method to improve my vision?

I recommend the book
Improve Your Eyesight: A Guide to the Bates Method for Better Eyesight Without Glasses
Jonathan Barnes

The biggest drawback is the time and commitment to actually do the exercises. Good luck!

Does Bates Method help to reduce / get rid of one’s myopia?

Well, it’s been around since 1923…that’s 87 years , and it hasn’t helped anyone yet…maybe it just takes time.

There have been many newer programs out since then , all based on the Bates methods…and none of them work either.

what is bates method and someone tell me the steps?

i got specs of power -0.75 on both eyes i want to get rid of them

If you really want to know, the Bates method is described in detail at
http://www.seeing.org/index.html

but save yourself the trouble, because it is rubbish from start to finish. Allow me to explain how the eye works. There is a lens near the front and a sensitive area at the back, just like a digital camera. Both eye and camera need to focus a particular object at a particular distance to appear sharp, but the camera does the focussing by moving the rigid lens backwards and forwards. In the eye the lens cannot be moved backwards and forwards but it is flexible, and can be squeezed by the muscle running round it. There is a limit to the amount it can be squeezed, so there is a limit to the focussing range. If you have a lens that is not quite the right shape, you cannot reach the same focussing limits that others can. You (and I) are short-sighted because the lens is too fat even before it is squeezed, so we are good at looking at close objects. In order to look at distant objects we would have to stretch our lenses, not squeeze them, and there just isn’t a muscle in the eye which does that. Sorry.
The only options are surgery, which I do not recommend for your slight short-sightedness, spectacles, or contact lenses.

Has anyone ever tried the bates method before?

Has anyone tried the bates method trial. If so, did it improve your vision?

Only at the Masters level……………

How effective is the William Bates Method?

I know Bates thought that bad vision was caused by the mind and the body. Stress. So relaxation would help. However, I also know many of his colleagues disagreed with him, and that he used to go against the principles of optometry

So, I was wondering how effective his method was. He obviously felt it worked, but did it really? I know nothing is ever 100% effective. I would like to know how many people, or what percentage, for example, of people saw their eyesight improve using his advice.

(I’m 15, and I have really bad vision. I’m almost legally blind!)

You must remember his works were written in the early 1920’s when optometry was in it’s infancy, and the actual function of vision wasn’t all that well understood yet.

Still, his claims were outrageous even for his time, and none of his results could be duplicated by other Dr’s at the time, or even by him in front of other Dr’s.

He was using his ophthalmoscope for instance in ways it wasn’t meant to be used, therefore giving him false readings that he swore by anyway. His work was just about all based on bad science, and a lack of proper understanding of how the eyes actually function. His claims, for the most part are medically impossible.

He may have had a few people his exercises worked for, but they were cases of pseudo myopia, which would have cleared up on their own anyway .

Being as they came out 90 years ago , and several other similar programs have come out since then to capitalize on his original works , there should be thousands of real success stories by now , but…where are they ?

Aside from claims on web sites that could be written by anyone, there are no real eye Dr’s any where who can say that they have patients who have made any miraculous recoveries from myopia or hyperopia because of any programs like that.

In the pre-internet days of the early 80’s, there were no other programs besides Bates, which was just a dusty book at the back of libraries. Then internet brought out a way to make big bucks with copies of it in slightly different forms , under different names.

Once you have studied the anatomy and physiology of the eyes and how vision functions, it is easy to see why exercises are all nothing but nonsense.

Some exercises are used as therapy for specific cases , like convergence problems in children , but that has nothing to do with reversing myopia.

BTW , if you are seeing well with your glasses on , you are no where near being legally blind. Your vision without your glasses on doesn’t matter. If you can’t be corrected to 20/200 or better with glasses ON , then you could be legally blind by definition.

Dr.Nice aka Dr. Evil likes to claim that the whole optical industry has been keeping it a secret for 90 years so it won’t affect the sales of glasses and our living..how absurd is that ?

Has anyone tried the Bates method to correct eyesight?

Just wondered if anyone has tried the Bates method to help eyesight? I started doing it and it did actually begin to help - I could read the letters better on the test chart - but I’ve been so busy lately that I’ve been too lazy to carry on. I really must start again! What experiences have others had?
@Fledchen - well, I don’t see how it can be in my imagination if I can read further down the test chart than I could before, but there you go. Each to their own.

Any improvement you notice from exercises is purely in your imagination. Exercises will not change the shape of a defective lens (myopia), will not increase the elasticity of an aging lens (presbyopia) or change the shape of your eyeball (astigmatism). You cannot strengthen or re-train your eye muscles to focus. Yes, you can choose to look at something a particular distance away, but most of focusing is not under conscious control. If you have trouble focusing or controlling eye movements, that’s actually a sign of a neurological problem and can’t be fixed with exercises.

TL;DR: Bates method is psuedo-medical nonsense and the only thing it’s good for is giving you a headache. You need eyeglasses, contact lenses, or surgery.

You’re getting better at reading the chart because you’re memorizing it. It’s easier to "see" letters if you already know what they are. Try printing out passages of text you’re not familiar with at different font sizes and see if they’re as clear as what’s on the eye chart. You’re suffering from confirmation bias and not realizing that your data gathering method is flawed. Why bother asking a question if you’ve already made up your mind about the answer? If doing exercises makes you feel better, that’s OK. You can’t damage your eyes, but you’re not going to improve your eyesight, either.
